Didn’t Pascal say something like this, though when he was looking at the sky: “the silence of your infinite space terrifies me”. But a city is infinite in its own way. These days even the very small town I live in has the same effect at times. Thanks for another excellent verbal/visual snapshot.

When the supposedly busy city becomes motionless, it does create an almost eerie-like effect, which I find scary.
The city outside my window is motionless this morning – no breeze, no birds, no people. Just grey and damp
